The 100th anniversary of the birth of the most prominent Danish architect and designer, Arne Jacobsen (Copenhagen, 1902-1971) has been marked by a number of exhibitions, special edition monographs and journals, and exclusive offers by furniture and lighting manufacturers. Jacobson’s particular approach to tradition, his responsiveness to functionalism, and his exploration of the limits of materials and technology led to a production which has rightfully been included among the classics of design and architecture of the 20th century.

Raised in a neoclassical environment, at university Arne Jacobsen encountered the works of Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier, which at that time powerfully influenced the Danish architectural scene.
